Baseball Recap: Vancleave Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Vancleave won the last time they faced Stone and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Tomcats 10-2. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Max Bates and Martin Shaw did most of the damage at the plate: Bates scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Shaw went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Bates has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cam Sherrod, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Vancleave is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Stone, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Vancleave will face off against rival Laurel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stone is set to square off against their familiar foe Gautier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
