Baseball Game Preview: Providence Athletic Club Panthers vs. Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes

The Providence Athletic Club Panthers will head out to take on the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Providence Athletic Club will be strutting in after a win while Coastal HomeSchool will be coming in after a loss.

Providence Athletic Club gave up the first runs last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Asheville T 4-2.

Providence Athletic Club let Evan Watt and Kyle McFarland run wild. Watt scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while McFarland scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Watt has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. James Britt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Providence Athletic Club always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Coastal HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against John Paul II, falling 15-2.

Coastal HomeSchool saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saul Issa, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Coastal HomeSchool now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Providence Athletic Club, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Providence Athletic Club has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coastal HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Providence Athletic Club suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Coastal HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
