Softball Recap: Destrehan's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Destrehan was feeling good fresh off their 13-4 takedown of Central Lafourche last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Destrehan Wildcats took a 15-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thibodaux Tigers on Thursday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Ava Burkett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gracie Bourgeois, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Destrehan's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Thibodaux, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Destrehan and Thibodaux should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. Destrehan (ranked 33rd) will meet East St. John (ranked 165th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Destrehan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, Thibodaux will take on South Lafourche at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday up 189 places (63 vs. 252).
