The Marshall Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Reagan Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Marshall: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Reagan has snatched up 14 consecutive wins on the road.
On Saturday, Marshall was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Clark. Marshall has not had much luck with Clark recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jason Vidaurri, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Aric Goodman, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Marshall were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 16th loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Reagan beat Clark 56-47 on Wednesday.
Aidan Richard was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Kenneth Manuel was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Marshall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Reagan, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Marshall have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Reagan, though, as they've been averaging only 18.2 rebounds per game. Given Marshall's sizeable advantage in that area, Reagan will need to find a way to close that gap.
Marshall lost to Reagan at home by a decisive 69-55 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Marshall have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
