Douglas is 8-2 against the Chargers since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Douglas Tigers will get right back to it and host the Blackstone-Millville Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Douglas has three straight wins, the Chargers have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Douglas didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Cougars, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory. Given Douglas' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Cougars are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colton Howard was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Gray, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Blackstone-Millville was beaten by the Blue Raiders 58-29 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blackstone-Millville has scored all season.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jackson Dunton and Patrick Madden. Madden had a great game and scored 17 points. Meanwhile, Dunton did his best for the losing side, scoring six points along with seven steals.
Douglas is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Blackstone-Millville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Douglas didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Chargers in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. Will Douglas repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
