The Chiefland Indians will head out to square off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chiefland will be strutting in after a win while Williston will be coming in after a loss.
Chiefland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Bell 14-0 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Taylor Brown and Garrett Byrd were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Brown didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Byrd pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Chiefland: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 5-6 otherwise. At the plate, Brown went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Byrd went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Brown hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Meeks, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Chiefland is undefeated when Meeks posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Jolan Doty was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Chiefland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Williston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to Vanguard.
Williston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elliot Davis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Chiefland now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Chiefland took their win against Williston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chiefland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
