Whitehall came out on top against Ludington on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Vikings blew past the Orioles 9-2. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Orioles: they've now won five in a row.

Megan Leatrea made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Leatrea was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Peyton Schultz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Janie Fagan, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory got Whitehall back to even at 3-3. As for Ludington, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Whitehall beat the Orioles by a score of 8-5 later that day.
