The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Tinley Park Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tinley Park took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Homewood-Flossmoor, who comes in off a win.
Homewood-Flossmoor took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Manteno, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Panthers 8-7.
Izzy Thurman was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demi Chaney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Tinley Park's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Argo.
Emily Korduplewski was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Megan Piotrowski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Homewood-Flossmoor is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Tinley Park, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Tinley Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Homewood-Flossmoor took their win against Tinley Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
