The Arundel Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Annapolis Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Arundel's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Annapolis has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Even though South River scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, Arundel still came out on top. Arundel took their contest against South River 79-69. Given Arundel's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while South River is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arundel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Frayer, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Frayer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samson Anjorin, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Annapolis scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against North Point by a score of 66-57 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). That looming 66-57 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Annapolis yet this season.
Arundel's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Annapolis, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Arundel against Annapolis in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 87-54 victory. Will Arundel repeat their success, or does Annapolis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
