The Walker Valley Mustangs will take on the East Hamilton Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Walker Valley made easy work of Cleveland and carried off a 15-2 victory. The Mustangs have beaten the Raiders the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.
Anzleigh Battle made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Battle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 matchups.
In other batting news, Abigail Lipps was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Rice, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one triple.
Walker Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Hamilton got the win against Howard Tech on Thursday by a conclusive 15-3. With that win, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Sarah Farris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Geo Kapo, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Walker Valley's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for East Hamilton, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Walker Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like East Hamilton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Walker Valley couldn't quite finish off East Hamilton when the teams last played back in March and fell 3-1. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
