Even though the East Central Hornets scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, the Plano Wildcats still came out on top. Plano strolled past East Central with points to spare, taking the game 71-56. The win was all the more spectacular given Plano's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while East Central is ranked 75th).
When it comes to explaining why East Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zahir Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mackey, who scored nine points.
The victory got Plano back to even at 9-9. As for East Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5.
Plano is on the road again on Friday and play against Lake Travis at 2:00 p.m. on December 29th. East Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Amarillo at 12:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Amarillo's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
