The Marana Tigers will head out on the road to take on the West Point Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Marana is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Sunnyside on Monday. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 15-1. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Marana saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Harvey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, West Point came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 21-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Mariah Mendez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Morgan Edwards was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
West Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Marana's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 23-3. As for West Point, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marana has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. However, it's not like West Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .570. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Marana's way against West Point in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Marana made off with a 15-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
