Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Yutan Chieftains walked away with it. They blew past St. Cecilia, posting a 42-6 victory on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Yutan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Benjamin, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Yutan also got a significant boost from Derek Wacker, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Yutan, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points per game. As for St. Cecilia, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
Yutan will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Oakland-Craig at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Oakland-Craig is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. St. Cecilia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
