It was another big night for Mason Caturegli, who rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 11 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Another reason for the win was St. Vincent de Paul's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, CJ Perez was the leader with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Hudson Kensic was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles.
Special teams played a big role in the game for St. Vincent de Paul, adding 12 points to the final score. All came from Dylan Chelew: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa beat Piner 20-7 on Friday.
Santa Rosa now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Vincent de Paul, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. St. Vincent de Paul has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Santa Rosa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 234.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for St. Vincent de Paul against Santa Rosa in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-8 victory. In that contest, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 45-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
