The Paulding County Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Harrison Hoyas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Paulding County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Even though Paulding County has not done well against East Paulding recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Paulding County walked away with a 36-29 win over East Paulding. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Paulding County has scored all season.
Alexus Wilson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Sam Erves was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Harrison waltzed into their match Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They secured a 66-60 W over Sprayberry. Given Harrison's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Sprayberry is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory got Paulding County back to even at 5-5. Harrison's record is now 9-1.
Paulding County took a serious blow against Harrison when the teams last played back in November of 2021, falling 92-25. Can Paulding County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
