The Copper Hills Grizzlies put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Woods Cross with a sharp 57-32 victory. Considering Copper Hills has won four matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Copper Hills to victory were Skylie Barker and Ellie Taylor. Barker almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, while Taylor scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The matchup was Taylor's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Avery Norman was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Woods Cross' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Macarthur, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mari Nichols, who scored 11 points.
Woods Cross struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Copper Hills racked up 14 assists.
Copper Hills' win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.8 points. As for Woods Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Copper Hills' road trip will continue as they head out to face Eastside Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on December 19th. Eastside Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 128th in Washington, while Copper Hills is ranked first in Utah). As for Woods Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Judge Memorial Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday.
