The Lecanto Panthers will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Lecanto and Leesburg squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly Lecanto had to settle for second. They were dealt a 74-40 defeat at the hands of the Yellow Jackets.
Lecanto might have lost, but man, Ijyana Edwards was a machine: she scored 14 points along with three blocks. Edwards hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Christensen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Wesley Chapel's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by River Ridge on the road and fell 57-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wesley Chapel in their matchups with River Ridge: they've now lost four in a row.
Lecanto's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.
