Softball Recap: Sierra Has No Trouble Against Yosemite

Sierra barely beat Yosemite the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chieftains were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Badgers on Friday. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Sierra let Abby Bays and Naliyah Gibson run wild. Bays got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base, while Gibson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Gibson has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylah Gibson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Sierra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Sierra and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Yosemite, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Sierra didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Fresno Christian on the 29th. As for Yosemite, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Liberty on the 29th.
