Herrin took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past the Hardin County Cougars 16-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Herrin got a big performance out of Carter McCree, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. Those two stolen bases gave McCree a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corbin Roberts, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herrin will welcome Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hardin County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Massac County at 4:30 p.m.
