The Don Lugo Conquistadores will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Don Lugo had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Santa Paula with points to spare, taking the game 45-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Don Lugo's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gavin Hrynezuk, who picked up 255 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Kalib Pacheco, who threw for 445 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Hrynezuk hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Morales, who picked up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Coachella Valley didn't have too much trouble with South El Monte at home on Friday as they won 46-27.
Aaron Ramirez got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 391 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.0 yards per carry. Ramirez's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Another player making a difference was Miguel Rodriguez, who picked up 41 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Don Lugo's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points per game. As for Coachella Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Don Lugo and Coachella Valley haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Don Lugo commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.7 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Coachella Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.6 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
