The biggest upset of the week belonged to Oakmont, who took down 504th ranked Bella Vista, 41-14. Taylor Laird threw for 94 yards and one touchdown and ran for 49 yards in the win.
Del Campo extended the longest winning streak in Capital Valley this week by beating Christian Brothers, 41-38. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Cougars.
The Falcons' dynamic duo of Caden Noon and Jalen Walker proved tough for Del Campo to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Noon threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns and Walker had 247 yards receiving. Hayden Jones helped Christian Brothers' passing attack out by catching four balls for 44 yards.
Josh Blumgold was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 193 yards on 29 carries as Mike Dimino's team fell to Mike Dimino's team. Austin Brown also contributed to the rushing game with 144 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Laird of the Vikings is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1314. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. On the ground, Rio Linda's Marcel Brown has rushed for 1097 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Walker. The Christian Brothers star has 38 catches for 686 yards.
Blumgold of the the Cougars is only 78 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Blumgold has accumulated 922 yard this year.
A big matchup in Capital Valley this week will be when Bella Vista takes on Del Campo. Tom Ingles' team is in fourth place, while the Cougars are in second place.
Oakmont moved up to 517 from 581 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Tim Moore's team was able to make move up by topping the Broncos 41-14.
