AAAA Region 8 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Taylor Grant and Marty Sanders provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Eastside. The connection was good for 97 yards, the longest such play in AAAA Region 8 this season.
The Eagles were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Eastside defeated Lanier 20-14 earlier in the week.
Lanier's Grant and Sanders have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Grant has thrown for 1096 yards this season, while Sanders has 25 catches for 558 yards. Chaz Thornton from Stephens County leads the league in rushing with 791 yards.
A big matchup in AAAA Region 8 this week will be when Chestatee takes on Lanier. The War Eagles are in second place, while Lanier is in sixth place.
Monroe Area extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Indians, 21-17. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
