Bloomfield is 0-2 against Howells-Dodge since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bloomfield Bees will be playing at home against the Howells-Dodge Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Bloomfield is ranked 19th, while Howells-Dodge is ranked 30th).
Bloomfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Wynot 36-30.
Despite their defeat, Bloomfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Wiley Ziegler, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, was perhaps the best of all. Ziegler is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Braeden Guenther was another key contributor, throwing for 80 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Howells-Dodge blew past Walthill, posting a 48-8 win at home. The result was nothing new for Howells-Dodge, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Hunter Luther continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 244 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Cooper Kreikemeier and his 97 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Howells-Dodge's win.
With Bloomfield's loss and Howells-Dodge's victory, both teams now sport identical 6-2 records.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Bloomfield commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.1 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Howells-Dodge struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Thursday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
