The Dougherty Trojans lost against the Thomasville Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Dougherty was beaten by Thomasville 41-12. While losing is never fun, Dougherty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Thomasville is ranked 98th).
Thomasville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Shaw, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Shaw was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards. Thomasville also got a significant boost from Leelend Chapman, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 113 yards.
Dougherty now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Thomasville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Dougherty will be playing at home against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carver is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Thomasville, they will head out on the road to face off against Crisp County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
