The East Marion Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They had just enough and edged Enterprise out 48-45. This was payback for East Marion, who suffered a 71-36 loss the last time these two teams met.
East Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakeria McCloud led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McCloud has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Watts, who almost dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and nine blocks.
East Marion has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Enterprise, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Marion won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Salem has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 7. As for Enterprise, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Lumberton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
