Sneads and Cottondale are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Sneads Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Cottondale Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cottondale took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Sneads, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Sneads got the win against Malone by a conclusive 21-2. The contest marked the Pirates' most dominant victory of the season.

J J Harrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Sneads is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Harrell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.
In other pitching news, Kaiden Chehardy looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Aaron Williams was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Sneads' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alex Gaines, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Sneads always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Cottondale unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Magnolia Heights, falling 14-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered since February 21st.
Sneads has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Cottondale's loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sneads has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Cottondale struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
