SAN JOSE, Calif. -
Leigh (San Jose, Calif.) saw its 25-point lead dwindle to five, but still managed to hang on and beat
Westmont (Campbell, Calif.) 25-20 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Tommy Druhan in the first quarter, the Longhorns led 19-0 at the half.
Leigh saw its 19-point halftime lead decrease to 13 entering the fourth.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Warriors took, 46-22.
The loss comes after Westmont defeated Silver Creek 33-14 last week. The loss ended Westmont's two-game winning streak.
Leigh (7-2) will play a Santa Teresa game against Silver Creek next week, while Westmont (5-4) will take on San Jose also in a Santa Teresa game.
