The Jackson Jaguars entered their tilt with the Midtown Knights with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Jackson came out on top against Midtown by a score of 55-47 on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Jackson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jackson found their leader in underclassman Kennedie Cooper, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. Cooper is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shakira Gresham, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Midtown had strong showings from Hailey Wortmann, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds, and Sinclair Richman, who scored nine points. Wortmann has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Jackson's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Midtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
Jackson will head out on the road to take on Villa Rica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Rica is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Midtown, they will be playing at home against Banneker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Banneker will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Midtown is ranked 39th).
