Somerset Academy South Homestead has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.
Zachary Reynolds continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Colzie, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Pinecrest Prep saw an underclassman step up: Gabriel Guzman scored 19 points. That was a full 50% of Pinecrest Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Somerset Academy South Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Pinecrest Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy South Homestead will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th. Downtown Doral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 325th). As for Pinecrest Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in BridgePrep Village Green's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Crocs' have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
