This season hasn't been kind to the Labette County Grizzlies, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They fell 53-41 to Sabetha on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Labette County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Sabetha is ranked 58th).
When it comes to explaining why Labette County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hudson Baker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Baker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kegan Bates, who scored four points along with six assists and two steals.
Labette County's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Sabetha, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Labette County will take on Paola at 1:35 p.m. on Saturday. Sabetha won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Silver Lake at 5:05 p.m. on January 19th. Silver Lake will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
