Cerritos has gone a perfect 10-0 against Glenn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dons will welcome the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. Cerritos will be strutting in after a victory while Glenn will be coming in after a defeat.
Cerritos proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Pioneer. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dons have posted since March 17th.
Meanwhile, Glenn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Artesia.
Carissa Galvan was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Galvan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Marina Rios made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Cerritos pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cerritos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Glenn struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Cerritos' way against Glenn in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Cerritos made off with a 19-1 win. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
