Abby McLemore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aliyah Roseman, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Millican, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Gulf hadn't done well against Tarpon Springs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Gulf was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Tarpon Springs. Nine seems to be a good number for the Buccaneers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jeovanna Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Julianna Carter was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Alana Delaney was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
The victory got Gulf back to even at 5-5. As for Dunedin, their record now sits at 9-2.
Gulf's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dunedin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Gulf, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Dunedin's hitters?
Dunedin took their win against Gulf in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dunedin since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
