The Southington Blue Knights won the last time they faced the East Hartford Hornets, and things went their way on Friday too. Southington blew past East Hartford 53-26 at home. The result was nothing new for Southington, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
C J DiBenedetto continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 288 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Anderson, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
East Hartford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Drayvn Roberts, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Yaxier Rivera, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
The win makes it two in a row for Southington and bumps their season record up to 4-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for East Hartford, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Southington will head out on the road to face off against Simsbury at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Simsbury is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. East Hartford will take on Conard at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Conard is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
