After a string of six wins, Whitewater's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 2-0 to the Newnan Cougars. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Whitewater ultimately came up short, they really made Newnan work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-18.

Lailah Brown paced Whitewater's offense, picking up 12 kills. Brown got some help from Matilde Kofoed and her 12 assists. Finally, Devon Li kept Whitewater's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Whitewater's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4-1. As for Newnan, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Whitewater will head out on the road to challenge Pike County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newnan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Landmark Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
