The McComb Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully McComb is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Upper Scioto Valley in Ohio (McComb is ranked 186th, while Upper Scioto Valley is ranked 498th).
McComb unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. Their tough 44-22 defeat to Liberty-Benton might stick with them for a while. McComb was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Meanwhile, Upper Scioto Valley can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Baltimore 52-20 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-14.
Upper Scioto Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Sanders, who rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Sanders is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Maddox Underwood was another key contributor, rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
McComb's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2.
Everything came up roses for McComb against Upper Scioto Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2020 as the squad secured a 41-0 victory. Does McComb have another victory up their sleeve, or will Upper Scioto Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
