Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes vs. Meeker Cowboys

Having just played yesterday, the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes will jump right back in to play the Meeker Cowboys at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Bishop Machebeuf came up short against Addenbrooke Classical Academy and fell 54-42.

Bishop Machebeuf might have lost, but man, Eve Brustkern was a machine: she went 7 for 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Those six boards gave Brustkern a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justina Cichos, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Meeker posted their closest victory since February 9th two weeks ago. They had just enough and edged Middle Park out 36-34.

Meeker's win came from a few key players Bishop Machebeuf will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rylee Sullivan, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Meeker's points. Another player making a difference was Addie Knowles, who had eight points and nine rebounds.

Meeker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meeker now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bishop Machebeuf has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Meeker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.7 rebounds.
