The Mishicot Indians will challenge the Union Grove Broncos at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mishicot comes in on 15 and Union Grove on six.
Mishicot's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Sevastopol. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kiran Sanford made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kaelin Adair was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Emma Schmidt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mishicot lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Union Grove got the win against Beloit Memorial on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ciara Hage looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Emma Santarelli was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Madrigal, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Mishicot's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Union Grove, their record is now 15-4.
Mishicot came out on top in a nail-biter against Union Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
