After three games on the road, Batesville is heading back home. They will take on the Rushville Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Batesville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lions in Indiana (the Bulldogs are ranked 78th, while the Lions are ranked 377th).
Last Saturday, Batesville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Cubs, but they still walked away with a 53-49 victory.
Batesville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Grunkemeyer out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Grunkemeyer hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Kaiser, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Rushville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-26 to Greensburg. Rushville has struggled against the Pirates recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Adrian Apodaca, who scored eight points.
Batesville has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Rushville, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Batesville against the Lions in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-36 win. Will Batesville repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
