Monsignor Scanlan lost a heartbreaker the last time they played LaSalle Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. Monsignor Scanlan put the hurt on LaSalle Academy with a sharp 13-1 win on Thursday. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Jose Jacob Luyando was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Luyando was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nestor Escobar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brandon Otero, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Monsignor Scanlan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was since the start of last season.

As for LaSalle Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be LaSalle Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
