It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Red Springs at home to the tune of 43-13. The win was familiar territory for SouthWest Edgecombe who now have seven in a row.
SouthWest Edgecombe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kea Hopkins, who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhakari Lovely, who rushed for 103 yards on only ten carries.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakelsin Mack, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.
SouthWest Edgecombe pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points per game. As for Red Springs, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
SouthWest Edgecombe's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Farmville Central at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Farmville Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 135 points over their last three games. Red Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
