The Churubusco Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the South Adams Starfires at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Churubusco put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Hamilton with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Marines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Bransen Hart, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Churubusco is undefeated when Hart posts three or more hits, but 1-11 otherwise. Colt Singleton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Churubusco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.
Meanwhile, South Adams can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Southern Wells. The Starfires not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 13-3).
Kane Sturwold looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, South Adams got a massive performance out of Jax Wanner, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Wanner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel Juarez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
South Adams' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-12. As for Churubusco, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Churubusco has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Adams struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Churubusco couldn't quite get it done against South Adams in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 5-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
