Mount View is 6-1 against the Bulldogs since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mount View Golden Knights will head out on the road to take on the Van Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. Mount View is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Mount View managed to keep up with the Warriors until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mount View's tough 55-32 loss to the Warriors might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Mount View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Warriors are ranked 34th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zymir Martin, who scored 14 points. That was a full 43.8% of Mount View's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthias Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Van's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 86-66 walloping at the hands of River View. Van has struggled against the Raiders recently, as their contest on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Mount View has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Van, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Everything came up roses for Mount View against the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 48-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount View since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
