The Bishop Fenwick Falcons will take on the Wilmington Hurricane at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bishop Fenwick has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while Wilmington will arrive with three straight wins.
Bishop Fenwick lost 17-9 to Carroll on Monday.
Evey Sulesky put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carolyn Myles was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Mia Scorti was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Wilmington never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Bethel-Tate with a sharp 10-0 victory.
Like Bishop Fenwick, Wilmington also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Diels. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Diels has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Groves was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenna Dorsch, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Wilmington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Bishop Fenwick's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Wilmington, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
