Odyssey Institute is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Parker a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Odyssey Institute Minotaur will be playing at home against the Parker Broncs at 3:45 p.m.
Odyssey Institute's last matchup with Kingman could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Minotaur lost 8-1 to the Bulldogs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Odyssey Institute saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Lupercal Jr., who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Parker not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 13-1). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Antelope. The Broncs haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Blake Gilbert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Parker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eddy Panuco, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddix Young, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Parker's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Odyssey Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1.
Odyssey Institute beat Parker 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Minotaur repeat their success, or do the Broncs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
