The Dupo Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Dupo will be strutting in after a victory while the Hawks will be coming in after a loss.
Dupo has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 42-31 win over New Athens on Thursday. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 12 on the offensive boards, as Dupo did.
Dupo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keara Prater, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Prater hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Addison Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 68-17 loss at the hands of Father McGivney Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gibault Catholic has scored all season.
Dupo's victory bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Gibault Catholic, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Dupo suffered a grim 42-16 defeat to the Hawks in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Dupo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
