Wheatland won the last time they faced Burns, and things went their way on Friday, too. Wheatland took their game against Burns by a conclusive 27-6 score. Wheatland were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Wheatland got off to a slow start in their previous match, but they had no such trouble against Burns and cruised to a 21-point first half. Meanwhile, Burns couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. The Wheatland defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 6 and all but finishing the match. The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 2-2.
Wheatland will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Hot Springs County. Wheatland will be strutting in after a victory while Hot Springs County will be stumbling in from a defeat. As for Burns, they will face off against Glenrock. Burns have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Glenrock are surely hoping to exploit.
