Despite the loss, Jarrell saw an underclassman step up: Aniya Taylor scored 20 points along with three steals. Taylor scored a full 50% of Jarrell's points, the 21st time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lamyre' Fitch was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and three steals.
Jarrell's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Jones, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jarrell will finish 2023 at home by hosting Alice at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jones will take on Sinton at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sinton is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
