Chestnut Ridge hasn't had much luck against Somerset recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
Chestnut Ridge came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Bishop McCort, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 17th.
Tyler Yatta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Somerset waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Rams 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrett Reese looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Somerset got a massive performance out of Cole Lucas, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Callen Miller, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Somerset pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Chestnut Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Chestnut Ridge might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Somerset when the teams last played back in March. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
