Scranton (Pa.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 5 in Pennsylvania, but was stunned by
Delaware Valley (Milford, Pa.), 27-16. Delaware Valley was ranked at No. 7 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Pennsylvania coming into the week.
The Warriors were up 14-3 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 11.
The loss snapped the Knights' 11-game winning streak.
Scranton's
Karlon Quiller played well. The senior wide receiver caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 21 on the year.
Coming into the game Delaware Valley had allowed 18.2 points per game this year. DV held firm on the defensive front, and kept SHS well below the 40.8 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Knights took, 51-21.
The loss comes after Scranton defeated East Stroudsburg South 42-20 last week. With the win the Milford school extended its winning streak to four games.
