Colonia (N.J.) grabbed the lead when
Treny Barneys threw a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Woodbridge (N.J.) 28-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured three lead swaps.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 14. The Patriots took the lead for good on a touchdown pass by Barneys in the fourth quarter.
Barneys stood out for Colonia in the win. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The victory will ease some of the sting of CHS's close 23-19 loss to the Barrons last season.
The loss comes after Woodbridge defeated South Plainfield 10-7 last week.
Woodbridge (3-2) will play a Greater Middlesex - White game against Carteret next week, while Colonia (5-0) will take on South Plainfield also in a Greater Middlesex - White game.
